PCB Site Remediation

The cleanup of PCB-contaminated sites can be quite straightforward or very complex depending on various factors including:

• Size of the site

• PCB inventory in service or in storage

• Site’s location

• Extent of residual PCB contamination in storage facilities (if any)

• PCB contamination of the workplace or surrounding environment

• Presence of PCB combustion by-products (furans, dioxins)

• Surface or below ground impact

• Past and future land use

• Requirement for on-going monitoring or remediation activities (ground water treatment)

• Off-site migration

PCB Disposal has extensive experience cleaning up contamination following PCB spills and fires.

Important Notes:

The new federal PCB Regulations published in the Canada Gazette Sept 17/08 require that all in-service PCB transformers must be replaced by Dec 31/09.

PCB and non-PCB disposal projects are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and all issues are taken into account when determining the final costs involved.
