Final Publication of the PCB Regulations in Part II of the Canada Gazette

On September 17, 2008, Environment Canada published the PCB Regulations in Part II of the Canada Gazette as a final publication.

Prior to disposal of any PCB wastes, Ontario waste generators must register on line with the MOE’s “HWIN” site.

HWIN (Hazardous Waste Information Network)

Information that is required when registering PCBs includes the following:

PCBs = waste class “243 D”. (Ontario Waste Classes)

If both solids and liquids are in the inventory, both 243 D solids and 243 D liquids must be registered.

Specific Gravity: askarel = 1.5, mineral oil = 0.85, water = 1
