STORAGE CONTAINERS

| Although
more PCB generators are choosing to dispose of their PCBs, those
who wish to store PCBs on site must comply with strict regulations.
All containers we provide come equipped with a secondary spill
tray, double lockable doors, ventilation, a log book for inventory
records, spill cleanup materials and PCB labels. Containers
are surrounded by a 2-metre high barbed wire fence with a lockable
double-swing gate. Containers are usually placed on concrete
pads or other suitable support. |

Disposal pioneered the use of modified 20-ft. and 40-ft. ISO
shipping containers for use as PCB storage compartments. We
found that not all PCB generators needed 50-100 drum capacity.
In cooperation with Ontario Hydro, we designed several other
containers from 2-drum to 24-drum capacity. In those cases where
large transformers require storage, containers are modified
with extendable sections and removable roofs to facilitate extraction
by crane. Where access is required other than via the front
doors, side doors can be installed equipped with loading ramps
and other features as desired.

Disposal has fabricated containers to meet specific client needs
such as storing flammable or radioactive materials. Containers
can be made with active ventilation, automatic ventilation closure,
spark-resistant, corrosion-proof grating, smoke detectors, rate-of-rise
heat detectors, automatic fire suppression systems, security
cameras, proximity alert and intruder alert detectors, and external
alarms equipped to ring automatically at the local fire department
and security personnel. Other features can be added to suit
a client's specific needs. |
